With a style that reveals a deep appreciation for the Great Ladies of jazz, audiences often characterize Melody Stanford as "mesmerizing," a "voice of a thousand colors," with technical acumen that is "right on the mark," as described by Boston jazz legend Bo Winiker. Melody grew up as a music minister's daughter in the small town of Santa Maria, CA, singing gospel in church while studying classical voice in school music programs. Her passion for jazz and blues solidified while attending college in Chicago, where she was a regular barfly at Buddy Guy's and the Green Mill. Living in Boston today, Melody is a rare musical polyglot. Alongside the Melody Stanford Jazz Combo, she folds her love for jazz into performances as a folk singer-songwriter, and into her work as the lead singer and songwriter for the art rock band Yes Commander. Though hailing from humble beginnings and largely self-taught, Melody's performances are anything but ordinary.
